Austrians in South Africa

According to Embassy estimates, about 15.000 Austrian citizens live in South Africa. Several of them keep in touch through the different Austrian clubs.

The Austrian Society South Africa offers membership in the World Association of Austrians and the magazine "Rot-Weiß-Rot" for Austrians living abroad.

Austria considers Austrians living abroad as the "10th province", an extension of Austria, really. A broad-based effort has been ongoing over the last years to strengthen the links of Austrians living abroad with Austria, particularly concerning the right to vote.
