Bilateral Relations Austria and Swaziland
Diplomatic relations were taken up after Swaziland gained independence in 1968. Relations have been friendly ever since. Swaziland is represented in Austria by an Honorary Consulate in Vienna.
Ambassador Otto Ditz presented his credentials to King Mswati III on 7 March 2009.
Due to the human rights deficits in Swasiland, the European Union engages the Swazi government in Article-8 consultations as foreseen in the Cotonou Agreement.
Austrian exports and imports to Swaziland are low. Austria exports particularly drinks, machines, and clothes,and imports clothes and vegetables.
Swaziland is host to two SOS children villages in Mbabane, two youth centres, two kinder gardens, as well as a social and a health centre.
