Both the guidelines on traveling with pets into the European Union and the veterinary certificate form to be filled out by a veterinarian can be found by following the links listed below.
The main points of the new regulations are:
- A traveller might bring with him/her only five pet animals.
- For each dog, cat, and ferret, the owner must bring with him/her both the veterinary certificate filled out and signed by a veterinary and a certificat certifying valid anti-rabies vaccination. Pet animals living in Canada do not require a blood sample testing.
- Each dog, cat and ferret must bear either an electronic identification system (transponder) or a clearly readable tattoo. The tattoo will only be accepted until 3 July 2011.
