If you are a citizen of Austria (holder of an Austrian passport) residing for more than three months or even permanently in Canada, we kindly ask you to register with the Austrian Embassy in Ottawa.
You are in no way obliged to register with the Embassy (it is only recommended), but be aware that your registering with the Embassy is in your own self-interest and might prove helpful in times of emergencies and crises. Plus, we could provide you with useful information (e.g. about upcoming elections in Austria), and we might as well inform worried relatives and friends in Austria about your whereabouts.
