Have you ever given thought to the question where the food we eat daily really comes from? The truly impressive film "Our Daily Bread" deals with the often somewhat surreal world of modern industrial food production and high-tech farming in Europe. Without voice-over or music, the film leaves the sounds and rhythms of the conveyor belts and machinery, along with the amazing yet often somewhat disturbing visuals to speak for themselves.
This film was nominated for Best Documentary Award in the 2006 European Film Awards, received the Special Jury Award in the 2005 Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival and won the Best Film Award in the 2006 Ecocinema International Film Festival.
"Our Daily Bread" will be screened in the presence of producer and director Nikolaus Geyrhalter on Wednesday, February 15th, at 20:30 by the Pharos Arts Foundation at the Shoe Factory (304 Ermou Street) in Old Town Nicosia. A question & answer session with the director will follow the screening. Free entrance.
