Zambia
Austria had an Embassy in Lusaka until 30th April 1989, when Zambia came under the jurisdiction of the Austrian Embassy in Harare, Zimbabwe, after the closure of the Embassy in Lusaka. Since 31st December 2011, Zambia is being covered by the Austrian Embassy in Nairobi. Zambia covers Austria from its Embassy in Berlin, Germany.
In 1995 Austria opened an Honorary Consulate in Lusaka.
For several years now the Austrian community of Fastranz has been sponsoring a development project in Ndola, the second largest city of Zambia, in the framework of which three young Austrians with technical skill who are doing their obligatory civil service come to work at the publishing house of the local Franciscan Monastery each year.
