Somalia

At the moment Austria has no bilateral relationship with Somalia.

However the European Union is considered as one of the most important partners of the Transitional Federal Government and is therefore greatly involved in humanitarian and political developments.

Focus areas of the cooperation are the improvement of the security sector, good governance as well as education, economic cooperation and food security.

Moreover the EU is a strong supporter of the Djibouti agreement, through the training of 2.000 soldiers in Uganda among other activities, as well as of the Kampala Accord and the so-called Road Map, which contains those reform measures that need to be implemented before the mandate of the current government expires in August 2012.
