Malawi
Malawi came under the jurisdiction of the Austrian Embassy in Nairobi on 31st December 2011, after the Austrian Embassy in Harare, Zimbabwe, had to close down. Malawi is covering Austria from its Embassy in Berlin.
Austria had an Honorary Consulate in Limbe until 1992. In 1999 a new Honorary Consulate was opened in Blantyre, which has been up and running ever since.
Bilateral relations between Malawi and Austria mainly focus on the provision of scholarships for young Malawians for hotel and tourism management schools as well as scholarships for the participation in conflict prevention programmes and other regional programmes.
