Health Care
Tourists travelling to Austria
There is a reciprocal health care agreement between the United Kingom and Austria. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) entitles you to reduced-cost, sometimes free, medical treatment that becomes necessary while you are in Austria. It will cover part of the costs of state provided emergency health care in Austria.
However, an EHIC does not cover all medical fees, or medical repatriation, or on-going medical treatment of a non-urgent nature. It is therefore recommended to obtain comprehensive travel and medical insurance.

Vaccinations
Generally no vaccinations or inoculations are required. Tickborne encephalitis (TBE) is endemic in wooded areas from spring to autumn. You should seek advice regarding inoculations before travelling. See the UK Department of Health leaflet "Health Advice for Travellers", Tel: 0800 555 7777, or contact your local GP.
