Austrian Certificate of Good Conduct (Criminal Record)
The National Register of Criminal Records (Strafregister) is kept and updated by the Vienna Police Department - Register Division (Strafregisteramt).
Application:
An application for a Certifiate of Good Conduct may be filed either in Austria (at the Police Department of the main cities or at the mayor's office in the smaller towns/villages) or abroad (at an Austrian Embassy or Consulate). The applicant has to show up at least once in person (either when filing the application or when picking up the certificate). It usually takes one to several weeks to receive the certificate.
Required Documents:
- Application Form (in German)
- ID (e.g. passport)
- Birth certificate
- Marriage certificate, or divorce decree (if needed)
- Fee of GBP 34.90, to be paid in cash or by "postal order" (made out to the Austrian Embassy). Cheques cannot be accepted!
