"Radetzky" - Book Launch

Alan Sked, author of “Radetzky”, the new biography of the Austrian Field Marshall (1766-1858), presented his book to a ravished audience on 9 December 2010. Radetzky is a little-known military genius: a passionate military man who rode for long hours until a very advanced age. He played a prominent part in the defeat of Napoleon in 1815, as well as in putting down the upheavals in the Habsburg monarchy in 1848. The setting for the book launch was fitting: the Residence of the Austrian Ambassador (who gave an introduction) served this purpose already in the days of the last Habsburg emperors.
