Economy
Since 1994 an increase in the bilateral economic exchange, especially investments and subsidiaries, can be observed. In the beginning the economic activities were mostly directed in one way, namely from Ireland to Austria. Austrian investors have discovered Ireland only during the last couple of years. The big demand in the Irish infrastructure sector caused further engagements of Austrian companies in Ireland.
Despite the due to the global crisis current difficult economic environment there are still great possibilities for the Austrian export business, mainly in the fields of environment protection and traffic infrastructure (waste and waste water management, alternative heating and power generation technologies, energy efficency, public transport). Austrian companies were also able to operate successfully in the construction sector, either by delivering merchandise or with field installations and craftmanship.
