Registration

If you are a citizen of Austria residing for a longer period of time or even permanently within the area of consular jurisdiction of the Austrian Consulate General in Chicago, we kindly ask you to register with us.

Why should I register with the Consulate?
If you register with the Consulate, we are in a better position to get in contact with you after emergencies or crises (such as after 9/11). We may provide you with useful information, and we may also inform worried relatives and friends in Austria about your whereabouts. In addition, we can inform you about upcoming Austrian elections and how to participate.

You are in no way obliged to register with the Consulate (it is only recommended), but be aware that your registering with the Consulate is in your own self-interest and proves helpful in times of emergencies and crises.

Please note: We can only help you should the need arise if we know that you are here.

If you decide to register with us, please fill out the registration form online or the registration form by hand , and then send it via e-mail (chicago-gk(at)bmeia.gv.at) or via fax (312 222-4113) to the Consulate. You may also simply send us your data via e-mail without using the form. Just make sure that all the information required is included. Thank you for your co-operation!
