Temporary Closure of Austrian Consulates in Australia and New Zealand

- The Honorary Consulate Perth is temporarily closed. Please contact the Austrian Embassy in Canberra.
- The Honorary Consulate Hobart will be closed from 30 May until 16 July 2012.
- The Honorary Consulate Auckland will be closed from 30 July until 03 September 2012.

Improved Visa Application Procedure

The Austrian Embassy has outsourced the visa application procedure. All visa applications (Schengen-visa for Austria and Latvia or Austrian national visa D) must either be lodged through one of 139 selected post offices around Australia or directly at the Austrian Embassy in Canberra.
Expiry of Child-Entries in the Austrian Passport of a Parent

Until June 2009 children could be entered into the Austrian passport of one or both parents. These entries will automatically expire on 15 June 2012 and every child will require a separate passport to travel. The parent's passport will remain valid until the end of the validity.
Working Holiday Visa Agreement with New Zealand

The Working Holiday Scheme for New Zealand nationals has entered into effect on 18 April 2012. Every year a limited number of allotments will be available allowing young people from New Zealand to stay and work in Austria for up to six months.
