The Austrian Ambassador in Beirut
The United Nations are celebrating their 70th anniversary this year. Austria became a member of the United Nations on 14 December 1955, together with a group of several other States. Since then, Austria has been an active member of the United Nations and has contributed substantially to its work.
Moreover, Austria was a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for three times, lastly from 2009 to 2010.
In 1979, Vienna became one of the – by now – four Headquarters of the United Nations. The Vienna International Centre (VIC) is the seat of a number of different UN institutions. The UN seat Vienna has developed into an important place for dialogue as well as into a hub for energy and international security questions.
The Austrian Embassy is pleased to announce that the Austrian Federal Chancellery and Kulturkontakt Austria will organize the programme Artist-in-Residence 2014.
