Visa-Informationsystem (VIS) - Fingerprints

The Austrian Embassy will apply a new procedure for visa applications at the consular section of this Embassy as of 1st April 2012.

Under the provisions of the EU Visa Code, mandatory fingerprinting will be introduced for all passport categories as of 10th May 2012 at the latest. According to Article 13 of the EU Visa Code, the Austrian Embassy will collect biometric data (“fingerprinting”) from all visa applicants.

Austria at the Human Rights Council

On May 20, 2011 the General Assembly elected Austria to the Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for a three-year term. This is the first time the Republic of Austria will occupy a seat in this council.
