- The possession of a valid visa does not automatically entitle its bearer to enter the Schengen territory. Immigration authorities could also request additional documents (i.e. hotel reservation, air ticket, sufficient funds, invitation letter, insurance, etc.) to be produced
- The purpose of the proposed visit may not be altered once the visa has been issued (after entering the Schengen territory). If you are interested in extending the visa, please enquire as to whether it is possible to do so at the time it is issued
- Processing time of visas is varies and depends on the nationality of the applicant. The Embassy cannot guarantee the timely issuance of the visa if the application has not been submitted in sufficient time
Since 01.06.09 it has become mandatory for the inviter to produce an EVE (=Electronic Guarantee letter) with the respective Austrian alien police authority ! (This new procedure is substituting the former "Paper-Guartee letter" which was attested by an Austrian public notary.) Once the EVE has been done in Austria by the inviter he/she will be given a CODE (e.g. AUH090000001). This code shall be forwarded to the visa applicant who will produce it to the consulate once applying for the visa. The consulate will be able to obtain all details given in Austria by the inviter to the alien police. See
