Relocating to Austria
Individuals living outside the EU relocating to Austria can take with them the following used household items without having to pay duties and fees:
- Furniture, clothing, personal belongings, appliances, computers
- Bikes, motorcycles, cars
- Limited amount of food and beverages
- Pets
- Portable instruments needed for professional activities
You may NOT take with you
- Alcoholic beverages, tobacco, cigarettes
- trucks and similar vehicles
- items and appliances used in manufacturing
You must have lived at your current residence for at least twelve months. The used items you bring along must have been in your possession for at least six months. As proof of relocation to Austria and as proof of current residence you have several possibilities, for example:
- Current residence visa
- Proof of residence in Austria (Meldezettel),
- Labour contract
- Lease contract
- School registration of children
- etc.
