Screening of "The City without Jews" (A 1924)
The expressionist epos "The City Without Jews" by Hans Karl Breslauer can be valued as a satirical response to the primitive Anti-Semitism in Austria in the 1920ies.
There will be a short introduction to the film by Anat Varon, as well as a discussion after the screening. In her lecture, she will discuss the historical backgraound and cultural context in the film "Die Stadt ohne Juden" in comparison oto the original novel written by Hugo Bettauer in 1922.
