Austrian photographers Kurt Hörbst and Alexandra Grill will present two projects recently completed in Bangladesh. During a visit to Radrapur, Mr. Hörbst heard the words “Bideshi…chobi, chobi…! – Stranger…take a photo of me!” many times, and soon fell for the village dwellers, with their delighted eagerness to be photographed. The project “Bideshi Photostudio” was born. Alexandra Grill presents her portraits of acid-survivors in Dhaka, women whose sadness, strength, and determination to face life, are both shocking and impressive.
Kurt Hörbst will discuss his project in an “Artist’s Talk” on Monday, 17 October 2011, 2-3 pm at India Habitat Centre, Casuarina Hall, Convention Centre.
