Issues and Responsibilities
The principal responsibility of the Austrian Mission in Geneva is liaison between Austria and the various international organizations in Geneva. The team at the Permanent Mission comprises the Permanent Representative (Ambassador) and his Deputy, a number of junior diplomats, several specialists from other Government Ministries as well as administrative staff.
Austrian diplomats in Geneva promote Austrian interests in the Geneva-based organisations, actively participate in the decision-making processes of these organisations and report on their activities to the Austrian Federal Government.
The vast array of issues covered by the Mission reflects the diversity of the international organisations located in Geneva, including human rights, humanitarian affairs, disarmament, trade, and development, economic and labour affairs, health and environment. In this section, you will find further information on these subjects.
