PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE, Ambassador Helmut Böck
Ambassador Dr. Helmut Böck, the Permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations in Vienna (UNODC, UNIDO, IAEA, CTBTO PrepCom), presented his credentials to Mr. Antonio Maria Costa, Director – General, United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) on 1 July 2008.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Böck was the Head of the Department for International Organizations at the Ministry for European and International Affairs in Vienna, Austria.
In the course of his diplomatic career he also served, inter alia, with the Austrian Embassy in Dakar, Republic of Senegal, as Deputy Director at the Austrian Cultural Institute in New York, as Counsellor at the Austrian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, United States, and as Counsellor and Chargé d'Affaires at the Austrian Embassy in Warsaw, Poland. Furthermore, Mr. Böck served as Consul General in Hong Kong, China as well as Ambassador to the Republic of Korea in Seoul.
Mr. Böck received a doctoral degree in Law and a translator's diploma for English and Spanish from the University of Innsbruck, Austria, a Master's degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics, United Kingdom and a Certificate of Advanced European Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.
