United Nations in Geneva
Geneva is the home of 17 international agencies and 10 major NGOs, in addition to dozens of smaller NGOs and intergovernmental bodies. It is situated in the historic Palais des Nations, former seat of the League of Nations, which also serves as a major center for international conferences.
The UN Offices in Geneva count to their main tasks the promotion of human rights and humanitarian assistance, risk and disaster reduction, disarmament negotiations, economic, trade and development activities, science and technology development, research and training, as well as cultural activities to promote dialogue among civilizations and a culture of peace.
