Members of the United Nations Security Council

The United Nations Security Council consists of 15 Member States. Five of them are permanent members (informally called "the P5"), the other ten are non-permanent members, which are elected by the United Nations General Assembly. Only the five permanent members have a right to veto.
On 17 October 2008, Austria was elected as non-permanent member of the Security Council for the term 2009/2010.
