Austrian Cultural Forum New York holds first fund raising concert
New York, 28 June 2012 - The Austrian Cultural Forum in New York is holding its first fund raising concert on 28 June.
The celebrated New York Talea Ensemble, a cooperation partner of the Forum over many years, is to perform the music: The program includes works by Mozart and Schoenberg, but also recent compositions such as "Spleen", by Austrian composer Olga Neuwirth, or a piece by Beat Furrer dating from 1997. The Talea Ensemble created a sensation last year with an Olga Neuwirth portrait concert at the Cultural Forum. The international arts magazine Artforum selected this concert as one of the best of the year 2011.
The cellist John Popham will perform "Echtzeit", a work by Austrian composer Peter Ablinger, as a further program item. In order to provide the audience - who are paying for their auditorium seats for the first time - with a complete Austrian experience, the Cultural Forum has been able to acquire two top sponsors in a class of their own. The Austrian gourmet restaurant Seäsonal will provide a culinary accompaniment for the concert and Esterházy Wein GmbH & Co KG opens its cellars to serve a selection of choice wines.
The event has been made possible through the kind support of "The American Austrian Foundation".
