Vorträge: Expedition zum Mars

Dr. Gernot Grömer, Leiter des Österreichischen Weltraumforums berichtet dem interessierten Fachpublikum über den Stand der Wissenschaft in bezug auf einen bemannten Flug zum Mars und die im Zuge des Projekt "Mars 2013" gewonnenen Erkenntnisse. Die Vorträge erfolgen in englischer Sprache.

Title: "Expedition Mars: Simulating the human exploration of the Red Planet"

Abstract: Planet Mars is one of the major goals for future human spaceflight missions. Although a dry and cold desert environment now, Mars once held all the environmental conditions for a potential genesis of life. The Austrian Space Forum, together with partners from 23 Nations is studying technologies and exploration techniques to optimize the scientific output of such a mission. The presentation will focus on the current research on planet Mars as well as on the challenges of a human exploration and the simulation of human surface activities, including the major Mars simulation in the Moroccan desert near Erfoud in February 2013. Breathtaking images and a first-hand account of the simulation mission will allow to discuss the scientific and technical aspects of such a project.
