Ausstellungseröffnung „Wiener Aktionismus. Gegenpol zur Gesellschaft”

Die Ausstellung "Wiener Aktionismus. Gegenpol zur Gesellschaft" zeigt Werke aus der  privaten Sammlung Essl in Österreich.  Der Titel der Ausstellung bezieht sich auf den Ausspruch des Wiener Aktionisten Otto Mühl:"In meinen Aktionen bin ich zuerst von den künstlerischen Voraussetzungen ausgegangen, aber jetzt sehe ich alles immer weniger als Kunst. Das, was ich mache, ist eher eine Art des Gegenpols zur Gesellschaft".

Die Auswahl der Werke hebt die soziale Haltung der Künstler hervor. Die Ausstellung zeigt  Kunst als Medium der sozialen Verhandlung vor dem Hintergrund der gesellschaftlich-politischen Umwandlungen der 1960erJahre. Schwerpunkt der Ausstellung ist der Wiener Aktionismus, was die Ausstellung zur ersten umfangreichen Präsentation  dieser Bewegung in Polen macht. 

Die Ausstellung dauert bis zum 29.01.2012.

Opening of the exhibition “Viennese Actionism: The Opposite Pole of Society”

The exhibition “Viennese Actionism: The Opposite Pole of Society” will present works from the collection of the Essl Museum in Austria. The title of the exhibition was inspired by the statement from a Viennese Actionist, Otto Mühl: ‘In my actions, I started off from artistic premises, but I see everything less and less in terms of art. What I do would better be described as a kind of opposite pole of society.’

The selection of the works presented will highlight socially involved artistic stances. It will show art as a tool of social negotiation against the backdrop of the social and political transformations which have been taking place from the 1960s. The core of the show are the works of the Viennese Actionists. This will be the first such large exhibition of Viennese Actionism in Poland.
